March to May – Spring Awakening

Your adventure starts early from Shimla with a scenic drive covering about 100 km to Jalori Pass. The journey winds through beautiful villages, thick cedar and pine forests, and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival at Jalori Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,120 meters, you’ll begin the trek to Serolsar Lake. This moderate 4-5 km trek takes you through dense forests and alpine meadows, culminating at the peaceful and pristine Serolsar Lake, known for its crystal-clear waters and local myths. Spend time exploring the area and soaking in the natural beauty. You can either camp near the lake or stay at nearby guesthouses or homestays in the area.

Short Itinerary:
Explore the historic Raghupur Fort ruins

On the second day, after breakfast, you will trek from Serolsar Lake towards the ancient Raghupur Fort. This moderately easy trek of around 6 km takes you through lush green meadows, wildflowers, and tall pine forests. The fort, perched on a hill, offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountain ranges. Take some time to explore the historic ruins and learn about the local legends tied to the fort.
After the visit, you will retrace your steps back to Jalori Pass. From there, you can take a drive back to Shimla or your next destination, concluding the trek with wonderful memories and stunning photographs of the Himalayan landscape.

By Train:
From Delhi: Board the Shatabdi Express (12032) from New Delhi Railway Station around 7:40 AM, arriving in Kalka in approximately 4-5 hours. From Kalka, take the scenic narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla toy train, which takes about 5 hours to reach Shimla. Alternatively, taxis and buses are available from Kalka to Shimla (approx. 90 km, 3-4 hours).
From Chandigarh: Take a direct train to Kalka or a taxi/bus to Shimla. The road distance from Chandigarh to Shimla is about 113 km, usually taking 3 to 4 hours by road.
By Bus:
From Delhi: Volvo and deluxe buses operate overnight from ISBT Kashmere Gate to Shimla, with journey times ranging between 8 to 10 hours.
From Chandigarh: Frequent buses and shared taxis connect Chandigarh to Shimla, taking about 3 to 4 hours.
Distance: Approximately 100 km
Travel Time: 4 to 5 hours by road
Transport: Private taxis, shared cabs, or hired vehicles are available from Shimla to Jalori Pass. The route passes through scenic mountain roads, quaint Himachali villages, and dense forests.
Jalori Pass sits at an altitude of 3,120 meters and serves as the starting point for the popular day trek to Serolsar Lake and Raghupur Fort. The road is generally accessible from May to November, while winter snowfall may block access during December to February. The pass is surrounded by lush pine forests and offers breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar mountain range.
Hiring a private taxi from Shimla is the most comfortable option, especially if you are carrying trekking gear.
Public buses are less frequent and may not drop you directly at Jalori Pass, so private transport is preferred.
Make sure to check road conditions during the monsoon and winter seasons as landslides or snow can affect accessibility.
We recommend jogging as the best routine to get fit for a trek. It works on the same muscles that you use while trekking — your calves, glutes and hamstrings. It helps increase your stamina day by day. It is also an easy routine that does not require any equipment or tools.
Fitness target:
To do this trek comfortably, you must be able to cover 5 km in under 35 minutes. This is the minimum fitness required for this trek.
How to achieve this fitness?
This trek requires at least 6-8 weeks of preparation. The longer, the better. So plan your trek soon and start preparing.

Cancellation between 30 days and 15 days to the start of event: 50% on trek fee is non refundable and the remaining 50 % will be given as cash voucher which is valid for 1 year.
Cancellation less than 15 days to the start of event: No refund.
