Baraadsar Lake Trek to a phenomenal “Wish fulfilling Lake” “Baraadsar Lake”.


Baraadsar Lake Trek lies amidst high ridges at an altitude of 4,300 meters and is worshiped by the people. It is one of the virgin treks not known by many.

This trek come under Govind Wildlife Sanctuary National park in Uttarkashi district Uttarakhand .No doubt, the Himalayas have enchanting beauty, bracing climate and desirable soothing green meadow.

So, what else can be better than spending some days here in the serenity !

Baraadsar is a High Altitude Lake at a height of 4,300 m. It is one of the virgin treks not known by many but the local people of the area believe that this lake is sacred and possess some supernatural power of fulfilling wishes.It is between two beguiling valleys of Rupin and Supin which are close to the border of Himachal Pradesh. Baraadsar has very beautiful campsites; the trail is thrilling through dense forest, meadows with enchanted beauty and some steep ridges but the panorama views from the top cannot be described in words. Trek to this sacred lake is a difficult one but as the beliefs of people wishes are fulfilled here so it’s worth going there.

    Himalayan Dardevils organizes transport for trekkers from Dehradun Railway Station in the morning which will leave for Khanyasni camp around 6:00 am to 7:00 am.


    Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand and one of the most beautiful places in India. The main attraction of this place is Rajpur road go through it and get a glimpse of Dehradun’s beauty. Reach Mussoorie after an hour which is also known as “Queen of Hills”. People visit it heavily during vacations with their family and friends.


    After half an hour, stop at kempty fall. Have breakfast there and witness people from different parts of the world. The break will be of maximum 1 hour. Ahead the peaks are visible and further you will come close to holy Yamuna River. If you want, then take a short break of 20 minutes and enjoy being around it.


    Further you will cross the small markets of Nainbagh, Damta and Naugaon. Reach Purola around 1:30 pm and take a break there for lunch. After having lunch proceed to Sankri via Jarmola. From there the back of Kedarkantha is visible. Go through the picturesque zig zag road amid pine forest of Jarmola.


    Reach Mori and after 1 hour you will come across a check post Naitwar, reaching the Khanyasni camp site you will enjoy the tea or snacks.

    Post breakfast start your trek by following the right of river Rupin (1500 m) to Pujali and Bitri village. There are many apple orchards and fields at Bitri which lies at an altitude of 2000 m.


    You can see traditional values and local life of the villagers. Wheat and cultivation of red rice is done here. Now, the trail takes you through dense pine forest from where Himachal Mountains will be visible and also Changsheel valley can be seen from the top of Bitri village.


    We will setup our camps a kilometer further at a wide meadow “Sarutal”. After setting up the camps and having food retire for the night.



    

    Trek Distance – 08 km – 5/6 Hours journey

     Altitude – Badang camp – 2600 Meter

    Have breakfast at the camp and then start you trek towards Badang camp. A high ridge divides the valley of Rupin and Supin valley which gives panorama views of the mountains.


    Towards the north you can see peaks of Himachal with amusing views of a unique mountain with 4 peaks Swargarohini. Go through dense forest sections and gradually gain height. Rupin and Supin River are visible on the meandering course, you will come across streams on the way where you can take breaks.


    Badang is a green wide meadow and a great camping spot. Setup your camps and retire for the night.



    

     Trek Distance – 13 km – 6/7 Hours journey

     Altitude –Dhaldhar camp – 3200 Meter

    After breakfast start your trek to Dhaldhar camp via Vijay Top which is at a height of 3700 meter the climb to the top is steep with some spell binding views of snow covered mountains and magnificent views of Vishkhopri, Obra valley and Khimloga Pass. Enjoy the panorama views there and then start the Dhaldhar camp.


    After a restful night, Day 3 begins with determination. This is the big day. We are expected to do 13 km. The climb to Vijay Top, at close to 3700 meter is the highlight. The landscape is pretty much the same with streams, trees and meadows. Flowers of every color imaginable dot the landscape. We get to see some towering peaks in the distance. Clouds and mist roll in and out and the sun remains hidden behind the dark clouds. We reach Vijay Top and the stunning vista makes it all worth it. A total of 3.5 hours has been spent.


    Dhaldhar is a Ridge camp site wide meadow and a great camping spot. Setup your camps and retire for the night.



    

    Trek Distance – 06 km – 2/3 Hours journey

     Altitude –Devbasa camp – 3650 Meter


     Night Stay – Camp site – on twin share basis


    The morning views from Dhaldhar are gorgeous as the rising sun reflects orange light on peaks which adds beauty to them and they look beautiful as never before. Wake up early and don’t miss to witness the sunrise from this high point. Then have your breakfast in camps and leave for Devbasa, our next campsite and in 2/3 hours you will reach there.


    Now, from Dhaldhar camp you have to go from one mountain ridge to another, walk through meadows for 30 minutes and when you go further some amazing views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and Nalgan will welcome you. Continue walking on the ridge it will take more than four hours and you can see Rhododendrons growing there in abundance. The peaks are in front and the sight is scenic, you get 180 degree view from here.


    Continue walking there are some descends but you have to cross one ridge than another after one hour you are going to Devbasa, this area is plain and rocky and it is the place which joins two mountains. You can see Rocky Mountains around you and this campsite is windy because this is at high altitude and the area s rocky. From Devbasa the trail of Baraadsar is visible.


    Setup your tents here, relax in your tents as tomorrows trek will be a difficult one. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

    Today’s trek is the longest one on rough trail from Devbasa to the meadow of Baraadsar, you can take any of the two routes. The short one is steep and you have to cross a pass to directly reach your campsite and the long one is by taking a round of the mountain and from that point campsite is 3 hours away. Choose according to your capability


    The trail is Moderate, there are rocks and big boulders, and you can see the path on the other side of ridge is made up of rocks which is ridge climb the weather here is extremely cold so carry enough woolen clothes. .


    From Baraadsar ridge you can see Baraadsar Lake from a distance and the ridges surround snow mountains, Trek to a phenomenal “Wish fulfilling Lake” “Baraadsar Lake”. It lies amidst high ridges at an altitude of 4,300 meters and is worshiped by the people. It is one of the virgin treks not known by many.     Have your breakfast and leave early, start your trek and first reach via Lower sural , descend till here is steep, cross this section of your trek go further and there you will go through meadows and then you will enter pine forest, trek under the shadow of trees.


    When this forest ends you come across fields of Rajma and Wheat now you have reached Rahla village you can see here people working in fields and herds of sheeps, they keep grazing. Take a break here have lunch and then trek towards Kasla village, it is an easy descent and you will see many streams flowing.


    The trail is uphill and it will take 1 hour to reach Kasla. From Kasla there is a vehicle till Sankri, it is a beautiful place famous for mini market and base camp of many treks. Relish the beauty of this place and enjoy dinner and overnight stay in Hotel



    

    Distance – 210 km – 8/9 Hours journey

    Today – It is your last breakfast on this trek with Himalayan Daredevils team. The certificates will be given and after some beautiful photos we will bid you all a goodbye from Sankri.

What to carry




  1. Trekking shoes: A good pair of trekking shoes is essential for a comfortable and safe trek. Look for shoes that are sturdy, provide good ankle support, and have a good grip on different types of terrain.
  2. Backpack with rain cover (50-60 ltr): A backpack is necessary to carry all your gear. Make sure it's the right size for your trek, and comes with a rain cover to keep your belongings dry in case of rain.
  3. Thermals (upper and lower): Thermals are lightweight and comfortable base layers that help regulate your body temperature in cold weather. Bring both upper and lower thermals to keep warm.
  4. 3 T-shirts (advisable quick dry): Choose quick-drying T-shirts made from breathable and moisture-wicking materials. This will help keep you cool and dry during your trek.
  5. 2 trek pants: Choose lightweight and comfortable trek pants that are easy to move in and can dry quickly if wet.
  6. Jacket (-10 degrees): A warm jacket is essential for cold weather. Choose a jacket that is waterproof and windproof, and provides good insulation.
  7. Fleece or hood (2): Fleece jackets or hoodies are great mid-layer options to keep warm. Bring at least two, as they can also be used as an extra layer at night.
  8. Sunglasses (UV protected): Protect your eyes from the sun's harmful UV rays with sunglasses that are designed for outdoor activities.
  9. Sun cap: A sun cap or hat with a brim will protect your face and neck from the sun.
  10. Hand gloves: Bring a pair of lightweight gloves to keep your hands warm and protected from wind and sunburn.
  11. Woolen cap: A woolen cap will keep your head and ears warm at night or in cold weather.
  12. Socks (3 pairs min): Bring at least three pairs of good quality socks that are moisture-wicking and provide good cushioning and support for your feet.
  13. Headlamp: A headlamp will come in handy if you're hiking in low-light conditions or need to find your way in the dark.
  14. Trekking pole (if needed): Trekking poles can help reduce strain on your legs and provide additional support on steep terrain.
  15. Rain cover\poncho: A rain cover or poncho will keep you and your gear dry during unexpected rain showers.
  16. Day pack (if you plan to offload your bag): If you plan to offload your backpack during the trek, bring a smaller day pack to carry essentials like water, snacks, and a first aid kit.
  17. A toiletry kit: Bring a small kit with personal hygiene items, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper.
  18. Lunchbox, cup, spoon: If you plan to bring your own food, bring a lunchbox, cup, and spoon to carry and eat your meals.
  19. 2 one-liter bottles: Staying hydrated is crucial, so bring at least two one-liter bottles to carry water.
  20. 2-3 plastic covers to keep your wet or used clothes: Plastic bags are useful for keeping wet or dirty clothes separate from the rest of your belongings. They can also be used to pack out any trash or waste you generate during the trek.

By Road


From Delhi :


  • Distance: About 260 km.

  • Time: 6 to 7 hours.

  • Route: NH 44 should be taken; this road goes through Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee which is scenic. 

  • Suggestion: You may take a cab or book a cab online rather than getting stressed out about availability.


Local Buses:


  • Frequency: Buses are available in the regions of Delhi, Chandigarh, and Haridwar after every hour.

  • Forms: AC and non-AC buses are both provided.

  • Booking: These can be bought online or at the bus stop


Self Drive:

By Air


Jolly Grant Airport:


  • Distance from the airport to Dehradhun: It is 25 kilometers.

Fitness Required & Preparation Guide




We recommend jogging as the best routine to get fit for a trek. It works on the same muscles that you use while trekking — your calves, glutes and hamstrings. It helps increase your stamina day by day. It is also an easy routine that does not require any equipment or tools. 


Fitness target: 


To do this trek comfortably, you must be able to cover 5 km in under 35 minutes. This is the minimum fitness required for this trek.


How to achieve this fitness? 


  • Start jogging at least 4 days a week 
  • If you cannot run 5 km immediately, start with 2 km and increase to 5 km over 2-3 weeks.
  • Once you’re able to run 5 km, increase your pace day by day. 
  • Gradually increase your pace and bring it down to 5 km in less than 35 mins.
  • You must be able to run 5 km in 35 mins consistently for at least 2 weeks before the trek. 


This trek requires at least 6-8 weeks of preparation. The longer, the better. So plan your trek soon and start preparing. 



Cancellation policy




Life is unpredictable and we understand sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and it is our endeavour to make it as easy possible for you. However, please understand we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation and ration in advance. Therefore any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of programme. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below-


Cancellation prior to 30 days from start of the event: Get monetary refund with 15% of cancellation charges on trek fee.


Cancellation between 30 days and 15 days to the start of event: 50% on trek fee is non refundable and the remaining 50 % will be given as cash voucher which is valid for 1 year.


Cancellation less than 15 days to the start of event: No refund.
